Exhibition “Free City” in the frame of the concert of music by Giya Kancheli “The letters to friends”Concert and Exhibition: A Celebration of Ukrainian–Georgian SolidarityMay 7, 2025 | National Philharmonic of Ukraine
On May 7, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine will host a concert featuring the National Ensemble of Soloists "Kyiv Camerata" and the renowned Georgian conductor Nikoloz Rachveli.
Complementing and continuing the evening’s programme will be the "Free City" art panel, on display in the Philharmonic’s foyer, as Dom Master Klass became a partner of this event.
This large-scale art panel was created in February–March 2023 by 50 of Georgia’s most celebrated artists. It stands as a symbolic gesture of support for Ukraine, a heartfelt tribute from Georgian artists to the heroic Ukrainian people — a gift of solidarity, love, and admiration.
The central figures of the "Free City" exhibition are fifty prominent Georgian painters, each a pride of their nation. At the heart and soul of the project is the artist Mamuka Tsurtsumia (Mamuka Tsutskiridze), the visionary behind the idea of "Free City", and the person who brought it to life.
Fifty artists — diverse in age, vision, style, and technique — united under a single idea: to express support for Ukraine, to offer love and reverence to its courageous people.
Over the course of seven weeks, they brought "Free City" into being — a powerful collective artwork, painted with hands guided by compassion, solidarity, and deep admiration. From the start, their shared dream was for the artwork to reach Ukraine.
It became a continuation of the Bouquet Kyiv Stage festival in Tbilisi, which was successfully held in April 2023. The exhibition was opened on the Kyiv's Day in 2023.
And now, in 2025, this story enters a new symbolic chapter — the union of music and art, of Ukraine and Sakartvello, under the vaulted ceiling of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
Here, friends, like-minded souls, and artists will gather — to offer their audience beauty that brings light and freedom to the world.
