Christmas Eve at Ukrainian HouseOn Christmas Eve, the Ukrainian House will be filled with the light of music that unites generations and reaches the depths of the soul. We invite you to spend this evening in the atmosphere of a true Christmas miracle—warm, sincere, and solemn.
The concert will guide the audience through centuries of Ukrainian and world Christmas musical heritage. The programme includes musical legends—both international and Ukrainian—classics and contemporary composers, sacred chants and carols.
PROGRAMME
The evening will be opened by carols by Kyrylo Stetsenko in the orchestral and choral arrangement by Viktor Stepurko.
Next, you will hear Winter by Antonio Vivaldi—one of the most expressive parts of The Four Seasons, a piece that has long been an integral part of the Christmas atmosphere around the world.
Zoltan Almashi – The Seasons – a modern Ukrainian interpretation of the same image, as if telling about Ukrainian nature, its rhythm and resilience.
A classic of the world baroque—Pachelbel’s Canon—will add the solemnity we all expect from the Christmas season.
The second part of the programme will feature works by Ukrainian composers that will create a truly authentic Christmas atmosphere: Yakiv Yatsynevych — Ah, in Kyiv the Great, Ivan Nebesny — Sokolonky, Orest Ortynsky — Virgin Mary, Hanna Havrylets — a cycle of carols, Marta Lozynska — Marvelous Tidings.
The finale of the concert will be adorned by three symbols of Ukrainian and world Christmas: God Eternal by Stanislav Lyudkevych, Silent Night by Franz Gruber, and the legendary Shchedryk by Mykola Leontovych in the arrangement by Viktor Stepurko.
