On January 31 in Cambridge and February 1 in London, as part of the Kyiv Art Sessions festival, two unique events await us: concerts titled “Ukrainian Modern” by the renowned duo of Bohdana Pivnenko (violin) and Anna Khmara (piano).
The title of the concert, as well as its program, perfectly reflects the era of profound historical transformation that Ukraine is experiencing today.
The concert will consist of three thematic elements: modernity, avant-garde, and national ethnicity. Each featured composer upheld true creative freedom and drew inspiration from the finest examples of European music, making the selection of works profoundly meaningful.

Performers:*Bohdana Pivnenko – Known as the “Lady Violin” of Ukraine, she is a People’s Artist of Ukraine and a soloist of the National Chamber Ensemble Kyiv Camerata.Bohdana Pivnenko is a passionate promoter of Ukrainian music. Her creative career has been dedicated to discovering and performing works by contemporary Ukrainian composers. Nearly all prominent Ukrainian composers have written musical dedications to her.
*Anna Khmara – A prominent Ukrainian pianist, leading accompanist, and professor at the National Music Academy of Ukraine. She is a regular participant in international masterclasses and an active concert pianist, particularly as a chamber musician.Since the outbreak of the war, the duo of Bohdana Pivnenko and Anna Khmara has been tirelessly touring the world, introducing audiences to the treasures of Ukrainian musical culture and winning their admiration. Despite their global engagements, they maintain strong ties to Ukraine and frequently perform in Ukrainian cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy.
