Exhibition "White Bouquet: A Labyrinth of Symbolism in the Work of Oleksandr Dubovyk"1–10 July 2026
Dom Master Klass and Kyiv Art Sessions — seasons of Ukrainian culture founded by Dom Master Klass—in collaboration with the Oxford Festival of Arts, present the exhibition "White Bouquet: A Labyrinth of Symbolism in the Art of Oleksandr Dubovyk" in Oxford, United Kingdom.
The exhibition will be a central event of the new Kyiv Art Sessions season, which this year takes place in Oxford and London.
"Dubovyk’s paintings are a joy for the eye, soul, and spirit. They are abstract yet concrete. The artist offers each of us the universal fullness of a magical, sacred ceremonial."
— Jean-Claude Marcadé
Oleksandr Dubovyk (b. 1931, Kyiv) is one of the most distinguished figures in contemporary Ukrainian art — a unique thinker whose intellectual and artistic journey spans almost a century of cultural history. Emerging from the milieu of unofficial Soviet-era art, he developed his own artistic philosophy, which he termed "suggestive realism": a language of signs and symbols in which images transcend representation and open pathways to deeper metaphysical meanings.
At the centre of this symbolic universe stands the "White Bouquet" — the artist’s most iconic and recognisable motif. Conceived as a deliberate counterpoint to the idea of universal nothingness, it embodies an act of creation and becomes a symbolic window into another dimension of reality.
Dubovyk’s canvases unfold before the viewer as visual palimpsests — labyrinths of signs where abstraction, memory, and philosophical reflection intertwine. They invite us on a journey through symbols and mysteries, between visible form and the hidden order of the world.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Oxford Festival of Arts.
