Kyiv Art Sessions in the Old Sessions HouseSpring Season 2025


The theme of this season, "A Mirror of the History of Ukrainian Art," seeks to unveil the centuries-long history of Ukrainian visual art — from the times of Kyivan Rus to the present day.

Kyiv Art Sessions Festival — recently shortlisted for the prestigious SABRE Award and honored with a Letter of Appreciation from the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr. Valerii Zaluzhnyi — returns to the iconic London venue Old Sessions House for its Spring 2025 season.
The theme of this season, "A Mirror of the History of Ukrainian Art," seeks to unveil the centuries-long history of Ukrainian visual art — from the times of Kyivan Rus to the present day.
The festival program includes an art exhibition, cultural and educational events, and a musical performance.
A portion of the proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to charitable causes.
Programme:● Exhibition and Sale / 1:00 PMWe are proud to open the first London exhibition of the Vivid Fusion platform, dedicated to presenting Ukrainian art to the world. The display features museum-quality art prints of iconic works that trace Ukraine’s artistic heritage from the era of Kyivan Rus to modern times.Curators: Maks Vityk and Hanna Kryvolap.The project aims to preserve and promote Ukrainian art. This is more than an exhibition — it is a mirror reflecting the soul of Ukraine.It is a journey through centuries — from the sacred glow of medieval icons to the bold experiments of the avant-garde, from the silent resistance of the Soviet era to emotionally raw works created during today’s war.All featured pieces are museum-grade prints of significant works by renowned Ukrainian artists, accompanied by a curated selection of original contemporary works, available for purchase.
● Lecture: "Why Is Art Valuable During War?" Speaker: Constance Uzvyshyn / 3:00 PMConstance Uzvyshyn — PhD candidate in Slavonic Studies at the University of Cambridge (Fitzwilliam College), expert in contemporary Ukrainian art, and lecturer at Central Saint Martins and the Royal Academy of Arts in London — will share academic insight into Ukraine's artistic legacy and offer a professional perspective on the value of Ukrainian art.In 1997, she founded ARTEast Gallery, the first independent gallery in post-Soviet Ukraine.
●  Talk: "Art in Times of War" / 5:00 PMA creative discussion with musicians and the composer of Kyiv Camerata, who continue to live and create amidst war in Ukraine. This is a rare opportunity to enter the inner world of artists and witness how culture sounds in the midst of struggle.
● Concert of Ukrainian Classical Music / 7:00 PMThe musical component of the evening will be represented by a concert performed by soloists of the Chamber Orchestra “Kyiv Camerata” – Ukraine’s leading ensemble in championing national music – featuring the programme with iconic works by renown Ukrainian composers – Borys Liatoshynskyi, Valentyn Silvestrov, Victoria Poleva and Zoltan Almashi. The artistry of the soloists of “Kyiv Camerata” has earned international recognition, with performances on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Berliner Philharmonie.Outstanding musicians Bohdana Pivnenko (violin), Yulia Sozanska (violin), Kateryna Suprun (viola) and Zoltan Almashi (cello and composer) will deliver the musical programme bridging the works of celebrated composers of the past with those creating in the present – voices that continue to shape Ukraine’s cultural identity even during the most turbulent times.
Kyiv Art Sessions gives us a platform to speak in the language of art about the enduring richness of the Ukrainian spirit — a legacy that has become a symbol of our resilience.
The Kyiv Art Sessions Festival in London is a charity event.All proceeds will go to support the Ukrainian artistic community — those who continue to live, create, and inspire amid the full-scale war waged by russia against Ukraine.
