The 2026 season of Kyiv Art Sessions, inaugurated in London with a performance by the Chamber Choir “Kyiv”, will conclude on 27 March in the capital of Brittany, Rennes, at the city’s principal cathedral – Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes.
This historic space, imbued with a profound sense of centuries-old memory, will become the setting where the music of Ukrainian composers resounds as a symbol of the spiritual strength of the Ukrainian people. The concluding work of the evening – Valentyn Silvestrov’s “Prayer for Ukraine” – will unite audiences in a shared prayer for the triumph of LIGHT over darkness.
“Prayer for Ukraine”, the composition by Valentyn Silvestrov that lends the concert both its title and its central axis, is a work of deep emotional resonance – a musical expression of the Ukrainian nation’s heart, embodying resilience illuminated by light and hope.
Alongside Silvestrov’s music, the programme presents masterpieces of contemporary Ukrainian sacred music, including works by Myroslav Skoryk, Yevhen Stankovych, Hanna Havrylets and Victoria Poleva.
The concert is charitable in purpose: all proceeds will be directed to the Ukrainian Firefighters Foundation to support the procurement of armoured evacuation fire vehicles.
