Serhiy Poznansky is an artist, photographer, cinematographer. Born in Kyiv in 1971. The entire life of the artist is connected with Kyiv, where he spent his childhood, got his education, and became a professional. Serhiy Poznansky remained in Kyiv from the first days of the russian invasion. He was engaged in the fortification of the city: he loaded sandbags, built barricades. As a professional photographer, he traveled a lot around Kyiv and its surroundings, shooting news reports.
Serhii photographed Kyiv, which radically changed the image of a peaceful cultural capital to a military landscape - anti-tank hedgehogs, concrete block posts, sandbags, monuments that turned into cubes and parallelepipeds.
The artist refused simple reportage and recording of events:● used a camera that shoots in the infrared spectrum and in black and white tones,● printed photos on transfer paper, made a layer of potali on watercolor paper,● it was on this basis that he transferred the image from the transfer paper at the end.
This is Sergey's unique author's technique.Kyiv-Military is a series of artworks by Serhiy Poznanskyi, made by the author in May-June 2022. Each work is presented in a single copy.
Serhiy Poznanskyi: "I could not remain aloof from these events and decided to take pictures of the historical places of Kyiv known to the whole world through the prism of my perception. I took the camera and went to shoot."
