Series of chamber concert programs performed by the leading Ukrainian musicians
National culture has always played an important, if not primary, role in the times of fighting against the anti-imperialist wars. Russia's brutal war of aggression against Ukraine, the hot phase of which has been going on for the second year in a row, is not an exception.Almost from the very beginning of the large-scale invasion of the occupiers on the Ukrainian land and fierce battles on the fronts, where Ukrainian soldiers constantly demonstrate to the whole world the wonders of unshakable courage and indomitable heroism, the artistic community of the capital did not stand aside, actively joining the cultural resistance in the struggle for its own cultural identity, in particular with the imperial narratives of the aggressor country with its’ chauvinistic meanings.
A series of numerous events—openings of art exhibitions, concerts, and film screenings, interspersed with air raid sirens, often in locations mutilated by enemy bombing—is a characteristic feature of the dramatic present and a full-fledged component of Ukraine's heroic resistance to the enemy onslaught.
This spring, the team of Dom Master Klass cultural centre, in cooperation with Sofia Kyivska National Reserve and the National House of Music, will present a series of chamber concert programs performed by the leading Ukrainian musicians, from March to June 2023 in the Khlibnya gallery of Sofia Kiyyska. As part of the balanced and meaningful programs of the cycle, the music of prominent Western European and Ukrainian composers of the XIX-XX centuries will be heard.
The curator of the series is a well-known pianist and music researcher Yevgen Gromov, who, for the past three decades, has been persistently promoting the music of Revutskyi, Lyatoshinskyi, Hrabovskyi, Khodziatskyi, Sylvestrov, Guba, Stankovych, Solovkin, Zahortsev, Krutykov..., He tirelessly collects, edits, performs and records the forgotten masterpieces of Ukrainian musical modernism and avant-garde, returning from abroad and private archives scattered manuscripts of the works of prominent domestic masters, and also actively performs with thematic series of lectures-concerts, educational broadcasts on radio and television.
