Festival of Modern Ukrainian theatre

Organization of a Play Theatre School in Ukraine, which could’ve become a certain alternative to modern theater education.
About the idea. Theatrical productions at Dom MK are an important and unique history of independent Ukrainian theatre in Kyiv.
Dom Master Klass became the starting point for many educational practices of Ukrainian actors and directors.
Since 2013, we have started cooperation with Oleg Liptsyn , Ukrainian-American theatre director, who is the founder of the "Play Theater Seminar" - an educational and theatre project, the artistic philosophy and creative method of which are based on the practices of the outstanding teacher Mykhailo Butkevych. Play theatre methods are now widely used in the world theatre process.
The reason for organizing the First Festival of Modern Ukrainian Theatre was the 25th anniversary of the Foundation of the Theatre Club in Kyiv - one of the theatre communities in Ukraine, which became an environment for new, free creative expression of young and talented theatergoers.
The idea of creating a festival was born from efforts to look at the perspective, to determine where modern Ukrainian theatre is aimed, how it can join European and world trends. It was to define environment and motion vector.

About personalities. Oleg Liptsyn - ideologue of the SPT project, Ukrainian-American theatre director, teacher, one of the leading specialists in the Play Theatre in the world; two-time laureate of the Kyiv Pectoral theatre award of Ukraine and a number of other awards, candidate of sciences in art history.

About the programme. The programme of the festival was rich and varied: performances, round tables, a photo exhibition. The festival began with Oleg Liptsyn's play "The Players" by Mykola Gogol, and ended with the performance "Endgame" based on the drama of Samuel Beckett, performed by an international acting ensemble. Both performances featured the well-known Lithuanian actor Gedeminas Sederyavicius, whose brilliant performance was a revelation for the Kyiv audience.
The festival programme featured four plays by young directors, former students of Oleg Liptsyn. This is "Mama Maritsa" by Evgeny Hudzyk from Lviv, based on the novel by Maria Matios "Mother Mary, Wife of Columbus", Yevhen Chistokletov and the theatre "Zhuky" from Donetsk presented the play "Notes of a Mad Musician" based on the novel by Mykola Gogol. Finally, Lipcin's student from Paris, Vansan Marguet, presented a performance of "Contrabass" by Patrick Süskind. Four thematic evenings were held as well.

About a dream. Organization of a play theatre school in Ukraine, which could’ve become a certain alternative to modern theatre education. The opportunity to present today's knowledgeable audience an interesting theatrical "non-format", led Oleg Liptsyn and Dom Master Klass to create educational theatre projects with the participation of professional actors and amateurs, the English language school "Oxford Klass", etc. in different years.

We hope that one day this dream will come true.
